![]() Like its two predecessors, 2003's Platinum Leave a Whisper and 2005's Gold Us and Them, The Sound of Madness offers a brave and unsparing look into the soul and psyche amidst a fierce musical attack that, even in its quieter moments, vibrates with the passion, energy and focus of a band with high-minded ideals and limitless ambitions. Welcome then to The Sound of Madness, Shinedown's third album - and the Florida rockers' boldest effort to date. "And part of the reason it took so long to make!" "That was the motivation behind this album." "I said, 'You know what - when I'm dead and gone, when everybody in this band has passed or what have you, I want the world to remember this as a record that needed to be made, and that there was a reason for it,' " Smith says. Thank you for that moment, and thank you to all the bands and crew for making a night that we will always hold close to our hearts.Įarly in 2007, producer Rob Cavallo asked Shinedown frontman Brent Smith about his goals for the band's new album. When Shinedown was on stage, there was a moment that Brent Smith wanted to talk about being there for someone you know that's been going through a hard time and facing emotional battles, and my girl put her hand on my arm and smiled at me knowing how much I've been pushing myself for not just myself but for her and our kids. I'm seeing better, I'm walking better with assistance, and that night, going on our concert date, I felt more like me more than I did in a long time. No way in hell I wasn't going to take my love to this show. I've been pushing myself the past several months in physical therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, MS therapy. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go to the concert as I wasn't able to see or walk very well. I was diagnosed with MS having several brain lesions, but still undergoing testing and treatment. I bought these tickets for my love, partner, and best friends anniversary as we have both wanted to see Shinedown and Three Days Grace live for years(From Ashes to New being an awesome bonus) and I ended up in the hospital from an upper brainstem inflammation only a few weeks later. Another thing I loved was that they didn't make you feel like they were on this pedestal where we are there to worship their gospel of lyrics, but they were there for us singing us their music which felt heavy to some of us because you could believe that they believed in their own music and that is why I myself choose to continue to stay a fan since the beginning from all the bands. ![]() The interactions to the crowds to get them and keep them engaged was awesome. The first thing I will say about Shinedown, Three Days Grace, From Ashes to New is the amount of love that they brought to the stage not just for the fans, but for each other, each and every song, and about giving everything to give everyone and including themselves such a great experience. Listen to Shinedown's new single "Daylight" below and you can pick it up here. Not just a amazing concert, it was an experience! Shinedown's Planet Zero World Tour kicks off on Sept. The song wrapped its arms around us and said, ' I got you.'" ![]() The Shinedown vocalist adds, "We can't lose our empathy and courage towards each other, or our willingness to pick someone up if you see them on their knees, because there's gonna be a moment in time when you need someone to pick you up."īefore Shinedown played the song for the very first time in April in front of 14,000 fans, Smith says he "had this calm come over me right before we played it. It's an understanding that we're all on this planet together, and we've got to figure out ways to take care of one another" Smith says. And that should be something that is celebrated and not tolerated. We've got to live, and we've got to live with another. Shinedown's new single "Daylight" is "about the human condition. ![]()
